when did all my friends start loving sports? i'm not upset by this at all, it actually puts a huge smile on my face, however the bills reaffirming themselves as class-a choke artists this year does not... it should be us with the wild-card, not the ravens (katietothemax!). oh well, at least i've still got the sabres, right?

find a partner to play this game with! now, fill one cup up with whiskey and another one up with ginger ale. drink the "whiskeycup" until you can't drink anymore. pass the whiskey cup to player two and drink the "gingercup". player two repeats the steps. the game ends when the whiskey cup is empty. the winner is the first one to throw up. fun for the whole family!

tonight i find myself wondering what some old friends are up to these days. where they're living, what they're doing for work or school, if they're happy, if they wonder what i'm up to? i had a couple of friends that i would go and hang out with whenever i'd get home from tour, but somewhere along the line i think we grew apart. in the last few days i've run into some people that i hadn't really talked to in a year or so, and it made me think about how i let some really good friends "sneak" away from me. that if things had turned out differently, then i have no idea where i'd be right now? i know that i've changed a lot over the last three years, and i'm sure that they have too.

Watching the world drift by while you're on a boat is very interesting. It seems like you're moving very slowly, but before you know it the scenery has changed and there's something new to look at... something that seems so familiar and safe, yet so strange and exotic.

Its now less than a week until I'm home and I can't wait to hold a certain someone in my arms while we drift off to sleep together. Just the thought of that right now is very intoxicating.

I've been having some very strange dreams as of late, I'm going to blame the poor sleep pattern that I've developed as well as the two ferry rides.

today we drove from oslo, norway to gothenburg, sweden and it was a beautiful drive. it only took us about 5 hours, which by euro-bus standards isn't that bad at all. the scenery was really amazing and it actually reminded me a lot of driving into northern ontario (just more euro), and i was somewhat comforted by that. it made home seem not that far away anymore.

we're half way done our european tour and i couldn't be any happier. the "give it a name" dates were fun, and i really enjoyed hanging out with the strike guys again. they told me that they're going to be playing toronto a couple of days after we get home, so that really gives me something to look forward to when i get back. as sad as it was for those shows to finish up, it meant that we were meeting up with german hardcore superhero's, and some of the nicest guys i've ever met: today forever. we've played 3 shows so far with them and i'm really excited to be together with them for another 10 days or so. i really can't help but smile when they're playing because they're truly enjoying themselves and having fun with what they're doing, and i think that far too often people forget that that's what music is all about.

in my spare time on this tour i've made some bitchin' new backgrounds for my blackberry, and it's been fun changing it up every couple of days... it really is amazing what amuses me these days. i also was able to pick up the big lebowski while we were in england, so now i can watch it ANYWHERE in the world since their dvd's cover pretty much everywhere that canada/us dvd's don't. i've also picked up a few small things for carly, and i'm beyond excited to get home to her. we're going to boston for independence day and then taking a day or two to drive home since neither of us really has anything going on that week. hopefully she likes what i've picked up for her on this trip!

tomorrow, we drive all day, and we should be getting into paris around 8:30pm. i'm looking forward to doing some sight seeing while we're there.

i went to get my eyes tested today, a rather boring afternoon task if you ask me. i don't know if it was while i was getting my eyes tested, or on my way home afterwards that i realized that i'm actually enjoying my time at home. either way, the simple ho-hum everyday tasks that i've been doing since the beginning of this month have brought me a lot of joy. sure, i'm bored most days, but that is an easy fix (for the most part), and every time i try to get my head back into tour mode i become very easily distracted and forget about what it was i was thinking about in the first place. hopefully this break is what i really needed to enjoy my job again, and hopefully europe doesn't bum me out this time around.

the bluejays have been frustrating as all hell to watch this year. when they don't try to do too much and just play small ball, they produce a lot of runs and are an extremely exciting team to watch. whey they try to pound the ball out of the yard, it's boring... and they don't score. yes, they've got a running game this year which is great to see... but if you're not accomplishing the simple tasks then what's the point? don't show up to the park. i know blaming the coach is a bullshit move, but what else can you do when your team isn't hitting?

i really don't understand how some days seem to go by faster than others. i suppose that there are many factors involved in this, but i still don't get it. for example, when i play videogames i can really just lose myself in the game for hours and not even realize it. one's perception of time is a really strange thing... right about now i'd like to play video games for days, just so i can get home "faster".

australia: amazing weather, and an even better time. set your goals was a ton of fun to hang out with.
japan: total culture shock (again)... i swear that if i never do another sake bomb again, it'll be too soon.
vancouver days off: drank a lot... very fuzzy
victoria: hung over.
vancouver: best first show of a tour ever. had dinner with some cousins i never get to see, it was nice.
revelstoke: shitty weather, shitty food, beautiful scenery.
edmonton: -50c was too much for me to handle, it was honestly too cold to think.
calgary: i like this venue a lot.
saskatoon - winnipeg: need to go by fast... i miss my stupid girlfriend.

1] i've been in europe since wednesday now, and it hasn't been too bad so far. i've been doing a really good job of saving money over here and hopefully i can come home with a bit of money to help pay of my credit cards with... or replace the ipod that i lost on the first day, that'd be nice. even though i've been somewhat enjoying myself, i'd still like to get the fuck out of here and go back home.

2] the new wilhelm scream has been on repeat on my ipod since we got to europe. it's got everything that i could possibly want in a record: double-time, swearing, and lots of shit talking. it's perfect. kudos to them for writing such a masterpiece.

euope for a month! most people would be excited, but i am not. weird food, different languages, and an unexplainable sense of lonliness. i feel that if i was able to go to europe on my own terms, and visit the places that really interested me, then i'd be down. maybe one of the ways for me to try and keep my sanity this time around is to try and get out a little bit more, or to actually read the books that i've packed with me... or at least to watch veronica mars season 3. that certainly seems a lot more likely to me.
